Chantelle + Brendan – The Pierce House, Lincoln, MA

I always know when a client tells me they were referred by Swartz Catering, that everyone is in great hands and that we are a match made in heaven!   Chantelle and I hit it off from our very first call (very important by the way!) but we had to wait many months before meeting because she and Brendan live in California.  Her parents had retired to the lovely town of Lincoln, so they decided on a destination wedding, at The Pierce House, which is a stones throw from their home.

The weekend began with a rehearsal and a tented rehearsal dinner at Chantelle’s parents home.  On their wedding day, the girls got ready on the second story of the historic property and they guys got ready at The Colonial Inn.  It was a beautiful day, actually a perfect day!  Lucky for them, they were able to take full advantage of having everything outside, just as planned!  Their ceremony was set on the property between two gorgeous trees, the cocktail hour was on the wrap around veranda of the estate and the reception was set in a tent on the patio, which was attached to the estate.

Luscious, local, seasonal, and abundant, Chantelle and Brendan’s guests enjoyed a spectacular feast on this gorgeous July evening.  Passed hors d’oeuvres included mini Maine lobster rolls served on potato chips, native corn fritters topped with rhubarb relish, and phyllo flowers with homemade fig preserves and Vermont goat cheese.  Their family style dinner featured an eclectic mix of elegant and playful with tarragon roast salmon filet on braised leeks with lemon chive beurre blanc juxtaposed with Momofuku style fried chicken (check them hamming it up with their fried chicken) and a salad of local greens tossed with buttermilk dressing and sprinkled with pansy petals.  Accompanying the wedding cake were Swartz Catering’s decadent frozen chocolate praline mouse and delectable pick up pastries and cookies.  Late night snacks of  Nachos, Salsa, and Guacamole were the prefect nightcap!

I honestly cannot rave enough about this couple.  They were just a complete delight to be around and who they are really set the tone for their entire day.  They were relaxed, happy, having fun and being completely true to themselves…as were all their guests. I think a picture is worth 1,000 words and these photos say it all (but I have a few words to say too).  Ok seriously, recessional with Blues Brother’s sunglasses, cardboard cutouts of their beloved dogs, hamming it up with the band and during dinner?  They weren’t afraid to have fun, be themselves and let loose!  Their best man speech was hysterical as was the maid of honor speech, but as you can see…a little emotional as well.  The Sultan’s of Swing kept guests on the dance floor All. Night. Long.  I honestly don’t think anyone was ready for this night to end, but when it did…in true fun form, they did so with a sparkler exit!

A few words from Chantelle:

Michelle is not only completely on top of her game and the most organized person I’ve ever met, but she’s also just a great person! Spending time with her is like hanging out with your girlfriend (your girlfriend who is planning your wedding and doesn’t get mad at you when you are a deer stuck in headlights over selecting linens).  If you’re going to have someone in your corner on one of the most emotional days of your life, you’re going to want Michelle.

I was referred to Michelle by my caterer, Swartz Catering, when I quickly realized I was going to need someone to help manage event flow and vendors day-of in addition to being a buffer between me and my very well-intended Mom who seemed to think she could manage everything on her own (let’s just say that wasn’t the case :).

Michelle made it easy to hand-off information and contacts to her, provided recommendations that only someone with her experience would think of and was incredibly responsive — I was in awe of how swiftly she took over: finalizing event flow, working through vendor questions and managing arrival and set-up.

Day-of, I had forgotten a few items at home and also didn’t realize a few of the items we had brought hadn’t been assembled. Michelle didn’t blink an eye: she drove to my parent’s house to pick everything up, she drilled and screwed together a wooden sign, she set-up electrical wiring for the band in addition to the millions of other things she was managing. The best part: she didn’t tell me any of this was going on or let me know there were any problems.

The only thing I wish I had changed was to use Michelle for all our wedding planning! But I’m just glad I got to work with her for the months leading up until the Big Day. It quite literally was the BEST weekend of my life and that’s in very large part due to Michelle.
